Saso shoots 73, trails leader by 7 in KPMG Women’s PGA Championship


Yuka Saso carded a one-over-par 73 to trail solo leader Gee Chun by seven strokes after three rounds in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in Bethesda, Maryland Saturday (Sunday in Manila).

Saso shot three birdies against four bogeys for a three-day total of 215 at joint 12 place. She had earlier rounds of 72 and 70.

After a bogey and birdie at the front nine, Saso had a rollercoaster last five holes where she bogeyed No. 14, had back-to-back birdies on 15th and 16th, before closing the round with two straight bogeys.

Bianca Pagdanganan ran into more trouble and fumbled with 76 for 223 to slip for a share of 64th place.

Pagdanganan stumbled with bogeys on the second, sixth and 11th, a double bogey on the par-4 18th hole against a single birdie on the 16th.

She had earlier rounds of 74 and 73.

Chun, meanwhile, maintained her lead despite limping home with a 75 for 208.

Lexi Thompson and Hye-Jin Choi trail by three strokes after firing similar 70s for 211.
