Duterte put premium on health, economy; cites high satisfaction ratings

As the country continues to grapple with the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, Malacañang said that the Duterte administration has always put top priority on protecting the people's health while at the same time keeping the economy afloat.

Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said this after the April 2022 Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showed a +39 Net Personal Optimism.

SWS classified this rating as "very high," but it was a few points below the pre-pandemic level of excellent +44 in December 2019.

In a statement, Andanar welcomed the results of the SWS survey and lauded the Duterte administration's efforts in dealing with health and the economy amid the pandemic.

"Indeed, the Duterte Administration has put premium on both health and the economy," he said Sunday, June 26.

"Central to the success of our pandemic response is maintaining our vigilance against Covid-19 with strict adherence to minimum public health standards while ensuring the country's socioeconomic recovery, where livelihood opportunities are available, hunger is eased, and quality of life is improved," he added.

According to SWS, 44 percent of Filipino adults likewise believe that their quality of life will "improve in the next 12 months," and 39 percent said there would be no change.

However, four percent said their quality of life would worsen in the next 12 months.
