Farmer dies in Apayao road mishap

LUNA, Apayao - A farmer died after the tricycle he was driving collided with a dump truck along the municipal road in Barangay Salvacion, Luna, Apayao, on Saturday afternoon, June 25.

The victim was identified as Lawrence Malag Duran, a farmer and resident of Barangay Swan, Pudtol, Apayao.

According to the Luna Municipal Police Station, disaster struck as the victim’s tricycle encroached the opposite lane while negotiating a sharp curve, and collided with an oncoming dump truck.

The driver of the dump truck, Bacrino Eugenio Apdal, 40, of Barangay San Francisco, Luna, Apayao and his helper voluntarily surrendered to the police.

Meanwhile, a farmer who was supposed to deliver vegetables to Nueva Vizcaya survived the accident when he lost control of his light utility vehicle he was driving in Sitio Kaling, Barangay Adaoay, Kabayan, Benguet, on Sunday afternoon, June 26.

According to Kabayan MPS, Angelo Dupilo Minyac, 19, a farmer, of Barangay Amlimay, Buguias, Benguet was driving his vehicle loaded with cabbage to be taken to the neighboring town of Nueva Vizcaya.

While negotiating a dangerous curve, he lost control of the vehicle which eventually crashed on its left side.

The police responded immediately while those who were in the accident area helped the victim who was not injured.
