Team Secret sweeps ONIC G, arranges upper finals showdown vs PRX

Team Secret swept Indonesia's ONIC G, 2-0, and advanced to the upper bracket finals of the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) 2022: APAC Stage 2 Challengers Friday, June 24.

After securing a 13-8 victory in Icebox, Team Secret repeated over Onic with another 13-8 win in Breeze to punch its ticket to the upper finals.

Jessie "JessieVash" Cuyco, showed who's boss on his Sova and led all fraggers with a total of 36 kills with 16 assists on both Icebox and Breeze.

Riley "Witz" Go on his Chamber and Skye and Jim "BORKUM" Timbreza on his Viper had 33 frags apiece while Jayvee "DubsteP" Paguirigan on his Jett got 28 kills.

Jeremy "Jremy" Cabrera, who subbed in for Kevin "dispenser" Te in Breeze, topscored for Team Secret in the second map with 26 kills. dispenser, playing Killjoy, had 14 frags in Icebox.

Team Secret set the pace early in the second map and gained an 8-4 lead in the first half spearheaded by Jremy's Chamber.

ONIC managed to put the match within striking distance and trailed at 11-7 but BORKUM's lurk all the way to the attacker's spawn punished the Indonesians as JessieVash capped the round with a nasty backstab melee on Hagai "Lmemore" Kristen Yesyurun's Chamber en route to match point.

The Indonesians salvaged another round before Witz and DubsteP connived for the win.

Cahya "Monyet" Nugraha paced Onic with 32 kills and 10 assists.

The Filipinos arrange yet another showdown against APAC Stage 1 Challengers champion Paper Rex of Malaysia-Singapore Saturday, June 25.

Team Secret, whose members formerly played for BREN Esports, had defeated Paper Rex with a 3-0 sweep back in the grand finals of the VCT-SEA Stage 3: Challengers Playoffs last August 2021.
