Paper Rex routs Team Secret, advances to grand final of VCT-APAC Challengers

Paper Rex asserted dominance from the get-go and handily defeated Team Secret with a 2-0 sweep in the upper bracket final of the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) 2022: APAC Stage 2 Challengers Saturday, June 25.

The Singapore-based squad not only advanced to the grand final of the tournament but also booked automatic slots to the VCT Masters in Copenhagen next month and the VCT Champions later this year.

Indonesian superstar Jason "f0rsakeN" Susanto went berserk on his Chamber and Yoru and led all fraggers with 41 kills and five assists and only sustained 17 deaths.

Wang "Jinggg" Jing Jie on his Raze got 31 kills and seven assists while Khalish "d4v41"Rusyaidee on his KAY/O and Fade and Aaron "mindfreak" Leonhart on his Astra and Brimstone had 29 and 30 frags apiece.

PRX gained momentum with its 13-7 win in Ascent before stepping on the gas with guns blazing in Bind with a 13-2 rout.

PRX, whose members hailing from Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, hammered down an early 10-2 demolition in the first half of Bind before scoring three straight rounds to secure the win behind the efforts and craftiness of f0rsakeN's Yoru.

Team Secret just couldn't solve the puzzle that was f0rsakeN as Jim "BORKUM" Timbreza paced the Filipinos with 12 kills on his Brimstone.

In both maps, BORKUM on his Omen and Brimstone and Jessie "JessieVash" Cuyco on his Sova had 25 and 22 kills, respectively.

The Filipinos were relegated to the lower bracket final and will face the winner between ONIC G of Indonesia and Xerxia of Thailand. Both teams yielded to Team Secret in the upper bracket.
