DOH reminds public: Second Covid-19 booster shot only for specific sectors for now

The Department of Health (DOH) reminded the public that the second booster shot of Covid-19 vaccines are being given only to healthcare workers, senior citizens, and immunocompromised adults as of this time.
The DOH reiterated that this policy is in accordance with the recommendation of the Health Technology Assessment Council (HTAC).
“A second booster or fourth dose using the currently available vaccines is meant for those who have weaker immune systems that are not providing enough protection from the first booster,” the state-health agency said.
“Healthcare workers are given the second booster in consideration of their high risk exposures to patients,” it added.
The DOH noted that "what we must focus on at this time is the first booster that is already available for all adults."
“Only one out of five Filipinos eligible for a first booster (around 14.85 million) have received the needed third dose,” it said.
“DOH invites our private sector partners to please help get the jab done by encouraging all employees, store owners, and others to get their first booster,” it added.
