The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is deploying additional batch of 63 immigration officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to augment existing force inspecting the increasing number of arriving and departing travelers.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said the newly hired officers will finish next week their month-long training on immigration laws, rules and procedures at the Philippine Immigration Academy in Clark, Pampanga.
“We are confident that the deployment of these new immigration inspectors will help address the perennial manpower shortages at by the premier port.” Morente stated.
BI port operations chief Carlos Capulong said the fielding of additional inspectors was timely as the number of passengers continues to rise with the dramatic reduction of Covid-19 cases in the country.
Capulong said daily arrivals stood between 17,000 to 20,000, compared to 4,000 at the height of the pandemic.
