Advincula marks 1st anniversary as Manila archbishop

The Archdiocese of Manila urged the faithful to continue to pray for Cardinal Jose Advincula as he marks his first anniversary as archbishop of Manila.

"We continue to pray for our dear Cardinal Jose F. Advincula as he celebrates his first anniversary as Archbishop of Manila," the Archdiocese of Manila said in a statement.

Pope Francis appointed Advincula as the 33rd archbishop of Manila on May 25, 2021. He was installed on June 24, 2021 at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception also known as the Manila Cathedral.

The Manila Cathedral also congratulated the prelate.

"We thank the Lord today as we celebrate the first anniversary of the installation of Jose F. Cardinal Advincula as Archbishop of Manila," it said.

"Your constant listening presence assures us of the love of the Good Shepherd. May our Lord Jesus grant you strength and joy in your pastoral ministry as our father in the Archdiocese. Mahal po namin kayo, Cardinal Joe!," it added.

To note, Advincula was born on March 30, 1952. He was ordained a priest of the archdiocese of CÃ¡piz on April 4, 1976.
