Korean actor Kim Seon-ho to star in 'Touching the Void' play in July

Korean star Kim Seon-ho will be starring in the play “Touching the Void” next month.

Salt Entertainment, his agency, released the schedule of “Touching the Void,” which will run from July 8 to Sept. 18 at the Daehakro Art One Theater 2 in Jongno, Seoul.

“Touching the Void,” which will star Shin Sung-min, Kim Seonho, Lee Hwi-jong and Lee Jin Hee, is based on the 1988 book of the same name written by mountaineer Joe Simpson. It is about the experience of Simpson and Simon Yates on their descent from Siula Grande in the Peruvian Andes.

A movie of the same name was released in 2003 and a play premiered in the United Kingdom in 2018.

In the Korean play, Kim Seon-ho will play the role of Simpson. He will appear in the play starting July 9.

This will be Kim Seon-ho’s first comeback project since October when the drama “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” ended and a personal controversy arose. He will also star in the movie “Sad Tropics,” which started filming last December.

Kim Seon-ho started his career in the theater in 2009 through the play “New Boeing Boeing.”

In May, Kim Seon-ho wrote a letter to fans and said, "Sometimes, a month felt like a year while there were other times I couldn't follow up with the time that has passed me by. That made me hard to manage my emotions. I believe you would have gone through the same because of me,” according to SBS News.

He added, “I'm sorry that I have made you to go through a hard time due to my shortfalls. I know how hard it is to heal after getting heartbroken. I'm sincerely sorry to those who supported me because I fear that you would have a scar on your heart."

"Thanks to you, however, my time is slowly on track. I'm a little hesitant about how this letter will be understood by you, but I hope everyone who is supporting me would have a time that goes by on your terms; not too fast or not too slow," he said.
