Scattered rain showers, thunderstorms persist in some parts of PH due to LPA

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms would continue to affect some parts of the country in the next 24 hours due to a low pressure area (LPA) east of Visayas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday afternoon, June 22.
PAGASA estimated the location of the LPA at 170 kilometers east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar at around 3 p.m.
Based on the weather bulletin, cloudy skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms may prevail over Palawan, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Caraga, and Northern Mindanao.
PAGASA said moderate to heavy rains from the LPA may cause flash floods or landslides in high risk areas.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will continue to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA also warned the public against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.
Moreover, the entire archipelago may experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.
