San Sebastian turned to Katherine Santos in the pivotal moments as it survived Jose Rizal University, 24-26, 19-25, 32-30, 25-5, 15-11, Wednesday in NCAA women’s volleyball at the Paco Arena in Manila.

Santos spearheaded a 7-0 run for the Lady Stags to rally from an 8-7 deficit to 14-8 in the fifth set, before JRU saved three match points for 14-11.
But Santos would not be denied as she unleashed a powerful spike that sealed San Sebastian’s third victory in four outings for a share of second with Arellano.
Overall, Santos finished with 22 points including 16 in the last three sets.
Reyann Canete also teamed up with Santos in the crunch and finished with 19 points even as Christina Marasigan fired 14 of her 15 points on attacks.
JRU were leading by two sets when San Sebastian went on full throttle to win the tightly contested third frame.
The Lady Bombers lost their momentum in a lethargic fourth set but came out smoking early in the fifth, only to be rejected in the end.
JRU evened its win-loss record to 2-2 despite the efforts of skipper Dolly Versoza, who had 19 points, and Renesa Melgar, who finished with 15 points.
