LPA, ITCZ to bring scattered rains, thunderstorms over parts of PH

A low pressure area (LPA) and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over several parts of the country in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday, June 22.

The LPA that is embedded along the ITCZ was in the vicinity of Puerto Princesa City at around 3 a.m.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains in Cagayan, Quezon, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will continue to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA also warned the public against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.

Moreover, the entire archipelago may experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.
