Filipino NBA aspirant Kai Sotto worked out with the Indiana Pacers and had a short interview uploaded on the team’s social media just two days before the NBA Rookie Draft on Friday, June 24, (Manila time).

In the three-minute interview, Sotto talked about how it would mean to him to be the first homegrown Filipino to play in the NBA and how his stint with Australia's NBL helped him with his preparation.
Sotto, who described himself as a "skilled seven footer that can shoot from the outside and a pretty good passer", said he improved a lot after his NBL stint.
“It really helped me a lot, just the experience hanging around with the guys and learning from everybody, starting from my staff, my teammates and to my coaches and my opponents, just the whole year was really fun experience, really learned a lot and really helped me develop and improve as a player,” said Sotto.
The 7-foot-3 phenom was also thankful for the support and attention he’s been getting from his fellow Filipinos ever since he made it known that he dreams of playing in the NBA.
“When I was 13 I kind of got that attention from my fellow Filipinos, and now I'm getting close to my dream. My dream is to help others to get here, too,” he added.
Chances are looking bleak for Sotto, however, if the recent mock drafts were to be considered. Sotto’s name was still not included in the Top 60 of the final projection from top US based sports websites.
Sotto’s camp however are pinning their hopes on the undisclosed NBA team which according to Sotto’s agent Joel Bell committed to draft the Filipino sensation.
