The Department of Health (DOH) cited the Las Piñas City government for its outstanding performance in vaccinating children aged 0 to 23 months old on Wednesday, June 22.
Mayor Imelda Aguilar thanked DOH Regional Director Dr. Gloria Balboa who visited the Las Piñas City Hall and handed over to her the certificate of recognition for its outstanding “Chikiting Bakunation” performance.
Aguilar said the number of children who were vaccinated reached 106 percent, surpassing the 95 percent target of the DOH Chikiting Bakunation.
She said Vice-Mayor April Aguilar, who was very "hands on" on the health of every Las Piñero, focused on giving vaccines to children who were not able to complete their fundamental vaccines due to the declaration of lock down during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The vice-mayor said the city government will continue to work with the City Health Office (CHO) in looking after the health of its residents.
She said the city's children were given BCG vaccine against tuberculosis; penta-hib or 5 in 1 vaccine that gives protection to children against five life-threatening diseases like diphtheria and tetanus; and vaccines against polio and measles.
