Beyoncé's 'Break My Soul' is the new anthem we need right now

‘Bey is back and I’m sleeping real good tonight’

It looks like the Beyhive has a new anthem. And it doesn’t just make you want to dance and groove but also can make you rethink the unhealthy cultural movement we are, unfortunately, returning to now.

Music superstar Beyoncé gives her fans a glimpse of what’s to come with her new album “Renaissance” with the release of her new song titled “Break My Soul.”

“Renaissance” follows the success of her sixth album “Lemonade.” According to British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful, OBE, the latest album of the 40-year-old Grammy winner presents “music that touches your soul.” And listening to “Break My Soul” and its house beats proves his point.

“Soaring vocals and fierce beats combine and in a split second I’m transported back to the clubs of my youth. I want to get up and start throwing moves. It’s music I love to my core... As ever with Beyoncé, it is all about the intent. I sit back, after the wave, absorbing it all,” the magazine editor wrote.

People can’t help but express what they feel after listening to the new track, especially, with its lyrics:

Now, I just fell in love

And I just quit my job

I’m gonna find new drive

Damn they work me so damn hard

Work by nine

Then off past five

And they work my nerves

That’s why I can’t sleep at night

“Break My Soul” touches many points in today’s grind and hustle culture where the idea of being available and making more is the way to go when it comes to work, even if it blurs the line between professional and personal life. While many have deviated from those during their pandemic life, as we brave the new world again, it looks like many are also making their comeback to the toxic rat race.

Instead, her new music encourages everyone to find new “motivation” and “foundation.” One does not need to be anti-work or to resigned from their job to have a good time but to find other things that will make life meaningful beyond professional goals. The song urges us to unleash our emotions that have been long trapped during isolation. To release our anger, stress, and, most of all, love.

“With all the isolation and injustice over the past year, I think we are all ready to escape, travel, love, and laugh again,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “I feel a renaissance emerging, and I want to be part of nurturing that escape in any way possible.”

Beyoncé’s 16-track “Renaissance” album is set to be released on July 29.
