Australian foundation conducts free eye screening for indigenous peoples community in Quezon

The Fred Hollows Foundation conducted an on-site eye screening and community visit for an Indigenous Peoples (IPs) community in Barangay Tongko Tayabas City, Quezon on Tuesday, June 21.

In a Facebook post of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Calabarzon, the IPs warmly welcomed the executive officials from the said foundation.

Fred Hollows Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Sydney, Australia which focuses on treating and preventing blindness and other vision problems.

The foundation has been working with over 25 counties and has restored eyesight for more than two and a half million people globally.

They have been supporting the province's Community Eye Health Program and benefiting the IPs since 2019 as per the online post.

The visit was also attended by the Provincial Eye Health Team composed of the Integrated Provincial Health Office, Department of Education, local government unit of Quezon, Tayabas City Health Office, and officials from Brgy. Tongko and NCIP IV-A. (Luisa Cabato)
