Senator-elect Chiz Escudero to join Senate majority bloc


Senator-elect and incumbent Sorsogon Governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero would be joining the Senate majority bloc.

Escudero, in a text message, to reporters, confirmed he would be voting for Sen. Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri as the next Senate President in the 19th Congress.

Zubiri, in response, said he is honored to have Escudero by his side.

“I am deeply humbled by his support and friendship. Sen. Escudero and I have been friends for 24 years since we were young lawmakers in the 11th Congress and I’m proud to say that through thick and thin our friendship has remained steadfast and strong,” Zubiri said.

Beign a veteran lawmaker and a brilliant lawyer, Zubiri said he is confident Escudero brings the skills and experience that the majority bloc would need to champion laws and advocacies for the good of the nation.

“I value his membership to the ‘Super Majority’ and I thank him for his trust and support. May God bless the Senate, our people and our nation,” the Senate majority leader said.

Escudero was initially reported to be considering joining the Senate minority bloc whose initial members are Senators Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III and Sen. Risa Hontiveros.
