VP Sara's inauguration peaceful -- Davao PRO-11, PSSCC

DAVAO CITY -- The Police Regional Office (PRO) in Davao noted "zero violence" before and after the inauguration of vice president-elect Sara Z. Duterte at the San Pedro Square here Sunday, June 19.

PRO-Davao regional director Brigadier General Benjamin Silo, Jr. told Manila Bulletin that the inauguration of VP Sara in the city went peacefully and orderly with 630 VIPs (very important people) and over 19,000 crowd in attendance.

"We have zero incident since yesterday until our monitoring this afternoon (Monday). Kami ay di aalis hanggang sa makauwi na lahat ng VIPs ni vice president Sara sa kani-kanilang lugar," Silo said.

Silo said that the operations earlier set for the inauguration in coordination with regions 10, 12, and 13, and other government security forces are still in place until Monday evening, to ensure that everyone is safe.

Davao Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) head Angel Sumagaysay, meanwhile, congratulated the general public for the successful conclusion of the event, as not a single crime or injury has been reported.

Sumagaysay attributed the event’s success to more than 4,000 police and military personnel that were earlier deployed to ensure public order and security here before and after the ceremony.

The Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) and the Davao City Central 911, meanwhile, reported two cases of individuals who fainted amid the program due to heat exhaustion.

Sara’s inauguration was attended by local and national lawmakers, ambassadors, and various Filipino artists. The entire event lasted until 11 p.m. after the Musikahan open-access concert.
