BURDEOS, Quezon – A retired policeman was shot dead while pacifying a drunken man who was poking a gun at a woman in Sitio Angib, Barangay Amot, this town, Sunday, June 19.
Police Senior Master Sgt. Neil Monteverdi, officer-on-case, identified the victim as Orlando Bantucan, 66, a resident of Barangay Poblacion here.
The suspect, Arcel Azores, 40, laborer, victim’s neighbor, was arrested in a follow-up police operation.
Police investigation showed that at around 7:30 p.m., the suspect who was drunk created a stir in the area when he pointed a gun at Jonamay Vergenisa.
When the victim saw the incident, he tried to pacify the suspect but Azores shot him in the left side of the chest.
The victim was declared dead on arrival at the Rural Health Center here.
The suspect is now under police custody and will be charged with homicide before the prosecutor’s office.
