MIQ Philippines 2022 Fuschia Anne Ravena presents her national costume

That Cary Santiago piece is just divine!

Days before the coronation night of the Miss International Queen 2022 pageant, the Philippines’ representative Fuschia Anne Ravena has been wowing fans online by donning a series of national costumes inspired by the archipelago.

Her first look is a piece by designer Malayka Yamas, a dazzling terno ensemble that pays homage to the Katagalugan. Next is a festive piece representing the Bisaya region. Lastly, a Tausug-inspired garb by Yamas.

During the talent and national costume competition, the 27-year-old candidate revealed her national costume for the pageant. Designed by Cary Santiago, the garb is imbued with the spirit of the Santacruzan, a traditional procession that takes place in the Philippines during the month of May. According to her post, the piece “was painstakingly hand-stitched by more than a dozen workers" aiming to "mimic a ‘reina’ (queen)” image.

It also features other design elements that celebrate the Philippines such as its arc with cross and red velvet curtain, symbolizing triumph and royalty. While the dress’ pattern is a way to depict the craftsmanship of ancient Filipinos and the art of “karusa” or carriage. What makes this look unique is the ornate doll placed in front of the dress, which represents the Cebuana beauty queen.

“As the Philippines (specifically Cebu where Fuschia hails from), just recently celebrated its Quincentennial Commemoration (500 years) of the Magallanes-Elcano Expedition, the best way to pay tribute to this momentous event is by honoring one of the traditions we have been practicing, that stood not just in the worse, but most importantly, in the best of times,” Miss International Queen Philippines posted.
