ZAMBOANGA CITY – An improvised explosive device (IED) exploded at the gate of the Lamitan City Hall in Lamitan town, Basilan on Monday, June 20.

The explosion was heard at 6:40 p.m.
A police report said one of two male suspects on board a motorcycle left a bag at the side of the gate which exploded a few minutes later.
The suspects fled after leaving the bag.
Lamitan police chief, P/Maj. Nurhaib Bungkac, said no casualties were reported but the city hall building sustained damages as a result of the blast.
Investigators are still continuing their probe.
The explosion came 22 days after a couple of explosions rocked a fast food outlet and a bus terminal in Isabela City, Basilan on May 30.
