Church-run Radio Veritas on Thursday said the Vatican made public the appointment on June 1.

The Vatican website said the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments deals with everything that belongs to the Apostolic See regarding the promotion and regulation of the Liturgy and, in the first place, of the Sacraments.

It also promotes liturgical pastoral action in everything concerning the preparation and celebration of the Eucharist, the other sacraments and sacramentals, as well as the celebration of Sundays and other feasts of the liturgical year and the Liturgy of the Hours.

The Congregation for Divine Worship is currently led by Cardinal-elect Archbishop Arthur Roche.

Veritas said aside from being a member of the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, Tagle is also the Prefect of the Dicastery fo Evangelizations.

It added that Cardinal Tagle is also part of the following Congregations: for Catholic Education; for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life; for the Oriental Churches; Pontifical Councils: for Legislative Texts; for Inter-religious Dialogue; Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See; Cardinal Commission for the Supervision of the Institute for the Works of Religion and Grand Chancellor of the Pontifical University Urbaniana.
