Partly cloudy skies, isolated rain showers to prevail over most of PH

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated rain showers may prevail over the country because of the prevalence of the ridge of high pressure area (HPA), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Thursday afternoon, June 2.
PAGASA refers to the ridge of high pressure area as a narrow extension of the anti-cyclone system.
In the next 24 hours, most parts of the country will have “partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms” due to localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA advised the public to remain vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.
Meanwhile, the low pressure area that brought rains over several areas in Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao in the past few days, has dissipated on Thursday.
PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja said the development of a tropical cyclone or low pressure area is less likely until the weekend.
Moreover, the entire archipelago will have light to moderate winds, while its coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
