Ex-convict with several criminal records arrested anew in Calamba City

LAGUNA -- An ex-convict with several criminal records and involved in various illegal activities was arrested anew by the joint police operatives on Wednesday afternoon in Barangay Canlubang in Calamba City.

Based on Calamba City Police Station report, the ex-convict was identified as Hilario Fajardo Mabaga, who is said to be a member of Fajardo Criminal Group.

He was collared by Regional Intelligence Unit-4A, Laguna Provincial Intelligence Team, Laguna Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Provincial Field Office, 83rd Special Action Company, Rapid Deployment Battalion-Special Action Force, and Calamba City Philippine National Police.

The arrest was based on search warrant no. 126-2022-C issued by Judge Glenda Ramos, executive judge of 4th Judicial Region, Regional Trial Court branch 36, for violation of Republic Act 10591 known as Comprehensive Firearm and Ammunition Act.

The report added that the raiding team confiscated from Mabaga a caliber .45 pistol with ammunition.

Based on police files, Mabaga was previously arrested in Barangay Bawi in Padre Garcia, Batangas sometime in 2004 for his involvement in the kidnap-slay of businessman Simeon Gadiola of Calamba City. At that time, Mabaga was already included in the region-wide Most Wanted Persons with a P100,000 bounty on his head.

The police files also revealed that Mabaga is the suspect in setting up a mini-shabu laboratory where he was charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Drug Act). He was incarcerated but was released from the Bilibid Prison sometime in 2019.

Mabaga has apparently returned to his illegal activities.

Additionally, Mabaga is the primary suspect in the shooting incident that transpired on April 5, 2020, at Mercury St., Sitio MCDC, Purok 17, Brgy. Canlubang, Calamba City wherein the victim was Beverly Barriento, 26, a resident at Brgy. San Cristobal, Calamba City.

The suspect is now detained at Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Laguna Provincial Field Office detention cell in Sta. Cruz, Laguna.
