Angat Buhay NGO not soliciting nor accepting donations yet — Robredo

Outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo reminded the public on Thursday, June 2, that her Angat Buhay non-government organization (NGO) has not asked for donations or solicited financial help.

Robredo said her team is still in the process of finalizing the NGO, which she is set to start on July 1, a day after her term ends.

“Muling paalala po: Sa ngayon, nasa proseso pa tayo ng pagbuo at pagsasaayos sa Angat Buhay NGO. Wala po tayong ginagawang anumang (A reminder again: Right now, we are in the process of building and fixing the Angat Buhay NGO. We haven’t done any kind of) solicitation para sa (for the) contributions o (or) donations para rito (for this),” she wrote on Facebook.

“Anumang mga request na lumabas o nakikita sa (Whatever request coming out or you see on) social media at iba pa ay walang kaugnayan sa (and others have no link to) Angat Buhay NGO,” her post added.

Robredo’s supporters on social media have been virtually committing to this new initiative since the Vice President made the announcement during a thanksgiving rally after the May elections.

Even Senator Franklin Drilon, who retired from political life, said he wants to volunteer his time and expertise to the NGO.

The same goes for Far Eastern University’s College of Law Dean Mel Sta. Maria, who had been an active campaigner for Robredo.

Her supporters have also been offering their services.

Robredo asked the public to only listen to official announcements and other details on her Facebook page.

Her Angat Buhay NGO is expected to be the country’s largest volunteer-driven organization as political experts hinted a possibility of turning this into a political party.
