RJ Jazul sizzled with six three-pointers to help Phoenix Super LPG hold off Rain or Shine 106-102 in the PBA Philippine Cup at Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday, June 19.

The Fuel Masters rode the hot hands of Jazul as he nailed a dagger triple with 33 seconds left to put the game to rest and notch their second straight win in four outings.
Jazul had an accurate display of outside sniping with a 6-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc to finish with a team-high 25 points while Matthew Wright provided support with 20 markers, six boards and six assists.
“For us kasi it’s about being better from our last game so looking at the small wins that we have we try to make sure to stay in the moment. We know Rain or shine is a veteran team,” said Phoenix head coach Topex Robinson.
“We respect them so much and we have something that worked for us and the experience (Terrafirma) Dyip, we just brought it here sa Rain or Shine. We are just blessed to get the same result,” he added.
Phoenix actually averted what could be a huge collapse after allowing Rain or Shine to come back from an 18-point deficit, 63-45, midway through the third frame.
The Elasto Painters, behind Rey Nambatac, Andrei Caracut and Santi Santillan, slowly trimmed the deficit and even came within one, 87-86, after a booming Mike Nieto triple early in the final frame.
Jazul though took charge for the Fuel Masters as he scored with six-straight points to reestablish a 93-86 cushion. Phoenix tried to keep Rain or Shine at bay in the ensuing minutes but it unleashed a last-ditch 10-3 rally capped by a Nambatac triple to come within three, 103-100, with 49 seconds remaining.
That set up the clutch triple from Jazul in the next possession as it gave the Fuel Masters a comfortable 106-100 cushion.
Nambatac had a splendid return after sitting out Rain or Shine’s last two game with 27 big points which all went for naught as the Elasto Painters absorbed their third straight loss for a 1-3 record in the standings.
