DAVAO CITY – Various local and national government officials, businessmen, and netizens are all excited to see more positive changes as Sara Z. Duterte took her oath as vice president of the Philippines at the San Pedro Square here on late Sunday afternoon, June 19.

Kingdom of Jesus Christ leader Apollo C. Quiboloy, a known ally of the Duterte family, in an interview said that he believes there are so many things that Sara can do as vice president, particularly in her job as Secretary of the Department of Education.

“When it comes to good governance, parehos sila istrikto at tuloy-tuloy sa trabaho,” said Quiboloy, who was one of the VIPs who graced the inauguration of Sara as the country’s 15th Vice president.

“I expect her to be really the one that will give us good governance, most especially on the education aspect. Congratulations Vice-President Sara Duterte,” added Quiboloy.

Former Presidential Peace Adviser Jesus ‘Jess’ Dureza said he is proud that the vice-president is from Mindanao, particularly from Davao City, adding that it is really good to hear two Dutertes – outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte and incoming Vice-President Sara – reach the national post.

“I think after Bongbong Marcos she (Sara Duterte) will become the next president of the country. She will do what needs to be done such as to improve the economy of the country and condition of the poor,” said Dureza, who was Chairman of the GRP Panel for Talks with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front in 2003 under the administration of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

“I believe she will do her best in all levels,” added Dureza.

Senator Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa said that he is very proud of the outgoing mayor of the city. He also said that Sara has a good leadership just like her father.

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go also expressed his warm greetings to the next vice-president. He said he will gladly help the new administration under incoming President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and vice-president Sara Duterte.

“We congratulate her. We love her. We know that she will bring her brand of leadership of Davao City and we look forward to that,” said Senator Loren Legarda as she congratulated the incoming vice-president.

Incoming Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco also expressed her compliments to Sara, saying she expects everyone to help the incoming leaders of this country, as everybody moves forward from all the challenges that the Philippines went through the past several years.

Chef Darence Patrick Co, of the Fat Cow and Asian Cow, said he is very proud to be a Dabawenyo and a Filipino. He said he expects a progressive Philippines as Sara will continue what her father, President Duterte, has started.

“I feel proud to be a Dabawenyo and a Filipino, and it is an honor that our , vice president and outgoing president Duterte come from Davao City,” Co said as he congratulated Sara Duterte during the inauguration.

Marsiana Paredes and Antonio Nolia, both residents of Barangay 37-D Mabini Boulevard in Davao City, expressed their high hopes for vice-president Sara Duterte.

They said they hope that Sara will not forget the people of Davao City and that she will continue her father’s work.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson Major Teresita Gaspan, meanwhile, said that there are about 20,000 people who witnessed the inauguration of VP Sara.

The program was preceded by an hour-long thanksgiving mass celebrated at the San Pedro Cathedral by Archbishop Romulo Valles, and was capped with a musical treat the ‘Musikahan’ at the San Pedro Square.
