Carlos Yulo dazzles once again, wins two more golds in Asian Championships

Carlos Yulo dazzled the stage once again by snagging two gold medals in the Asian Senior Gymnastics Championships in Doha, Qatar Saturday night.

The 22-year-old displayed world-class performances in vault and parallel bars to rule both apparatus and bolster his bid for another world title in the FIG World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Liverpool, England in November.

Yulo posted a 14.884 average score in vault after tallying 14.967 on his first attempt and 14.800 on his second.

South Korea’s Kim Hansol and Japan’s Shiga Tachibana scored a similar 14.417 but the Korean took home the silver after the tiebreak.

As if it was not enough, Yulo produced another flawless performance in parallel bars with a score of 15.167 for the gold medal.

He registered 6.300 degree of difficulty for his routine and gained 8.867 for his execution.

Japan’s Tsuyoshi Hasegawa and China’s Yin Dehang posted identical 14.700, but the Japanese claimed the silver with a higher score in execution for the tiebreak.

It was a successful campaign for Yulo as he also went home with the individual all-around silver and the floor exercise gold.

His all-around performance was enough to earn a berth in the world championships, where he is set to defend his crown in vault and improve his silver-medal finish in parallel bars from the previous edition in Kitakyushu, Japan.

He is also expected to regain his title in the floor exercise, which he last won in the 2019 edition in Stuttgart, Germany.
