Caritas PH warns public vs fake Instagram account of priest

Caritas Philippines on Sunday, June 19, warned the public against a fake Instagram account using the name of their official.

"We would like to warn the public: Fr. Antonio E Labiao Jr., our executive secretary at Caritas Philippines, do not have an Instagram account," the group said in a Facebook post.

It urged the public to report or block the account frtonylabiaojr@instagram.

"It is a fake account. Please also do not give anything (money, your personal details) to the account," said Caritas.

Last month, the Diocese of Tagbilaran also issued a similar warning to the public.

The diocese said they were notified about someone pretending to be Bishop Alberto Uy and the Diocese of Tagbilaran on Instagram and has been sending messages to random people.

"We would like to inform everyone that as of today, Bishop Abet and the Diocese of Tagbilaran does not have an official Instagram account. We only have a Facebook page with 231, 000 plus followers and Bishop’s Yotube channel with almost 12k subscribers," the diocese said.

"If you have received an instagram message from this account please ignore it and have it reported immediately," it added.
