RJ Abarrientos bid goodbye to FEU after deciding to take his act as a professional player in the Korean Basketball League.

According to Korean news site Jumpball, the Gilas Pilipinas guard is set to sign with seven-time KBL champion Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phobeus as its import under the Asian Players Quota.
Abarrientos was the latest Filipino to take his act overseas and the second Gilas Pilipinas player to sign with a KBL team, joining backcourt running mate SJ Belangel who earlier signed with Daegu Kogas Pegasus.
The 5-foot-11 guard gave the Koreans a glimpse of what he can do during the two friendly games between the Korean national team and Gilas Pilipinas in the 2022 KB Kookmin Bank Invitational over the weekend, averaging 12.5 points highlighted by a 17-point outburst and a 5-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc in Gilas’ 106-102 loss last Saturday, June 18.
He also provided Gilas a steady presence in the backcourt in his two tours of duty. He averaged 8.3 points, 3.7 assists, and 1.3 rebounds in the 2021 Asia Cup Qualifiers while had 7.5 points, 2.0 assists, and 2.0 rebounds during the 2021 Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgrade.
The 22-year old cager averaged 13.8 points on 32 percent shooting from deep, on top of 4.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.3 steals in his first year with the Morayta-based squad. With him leading the charge, the Tamaraws made it to the Final Four only to lose to Ateneo, 85-72.
