Scattered rain showers, thunderstorms to prevail over parts of southern Luzon, Mindanao

The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), a region where winds coming from the northeast and southeast hemispheres converge that triggers thunderstorms and rain showers, will continue to affect parts of southern Luzon and Mindanao in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Saturday, June 18.

Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Norte, and Zamboanga del Sur are expected to have cloudy skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms.

PAGASA advised residents to stay vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides due to scattered moderate to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will continue to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or localized thunderstorms due to the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.

PAGASA also warned the public against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.

Moreover, the entire archipelago may experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.
