A new king will be crowned at the end of the MSC 2022 as RSG Philippines dethroned Omega Esports with a thrilling 3-2 victory in the lower bracket finals at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre on Saturday, June 18.

The tight best-of-five affair boiled down to a winner-take-all Game 5 with Arvie “Aqua” Calderon saving his best for last, putting up a perfect 5-0-5 KDA on the Yve to lead RSG in the wire-to-wire 15-6 win in the series clincher.
The Raiders were methodical in the final game of the series as they went back to its objective-centric game, seizing control of the match after building an early 6k gold lead and taking down all of Omega’s outer turrets inside the first 13 minutes of Game 5.
RSG then starved Omega of its resources in the ensuing minutes although the defending champion still managed to contest the 16-minute Lord take of the MPL S9 titlist. Nathzz and Aqua then provided the perfect zoning to deny Omega’s Llord steal attempt to secure the major objective which they used to close out the series.
With the win, RSG advanced to the Finals against RRQ – the second straight Philippines-Indonesia championship match since the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam last month. RSG will also have the chance to avenge its earlier upper bracket loss to RRQ which slammed the door on the country’s all-Filipino finals hopes.
It was a see-saw affair in the first four games as Omega drew first blood in the series courtesy of a low scoring 12-8 affair in the 29-minute opener. RSG was quick to respond and retaliated with a 15-11 victory in Game 2 before it zoomed in to series match-point in Game 3 following a tight 13-13 triumph.
Omega, though, refused to go down without a fight as it displayed its patented comeback genes anew, taking down RSG 9-7 in Game 4 to score the equalizer and force the jugular Game 5.
