Chinese ambassador meets VP-elect Duterte, brother Mayor Duterte
Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian congratulated on Saturday night Vice President-elect Sara Duterte after meeting the latter ahead of her inauguration.

Huang likewise congratulated Duterte’s brother, Davao City Mayor-elect Baste Duterte, “on their successful elections.”
In a Facebook post, the Chinese official said he met the upcoming 15th Vice President of the Philippines, whom he exchanged views with “on the long-time China-Philippines friendship.”
He added they “envisioned a better future for our bilateral relations.”
“I briefed her about the substantive and positive progress of the Samal Island-Davao City Connector Project, which was supported by a Chinese concessional loan of approximately 350 million US dollars,” he said.
Huang also said he talked to Baste, who he assured of funding at least 13 school buildings (worth 150 million pesos) for his city.
He said it is “a donation from the Chinese Embassy with a purpose to provide a better educational environment for Davao students.”
“As a good friend and partner of the Philippines, we stand ready to work closely with H.E. (Her Excellency) Sara Duterte and Hon Sebastian Duterte in the spirit of Bayanihan to contribute to Davao’s economic recovery and livelihood and continuously promote friendship between our two countries to bring more benefits to our two peoples,” the Chinese official said.
