2 dead, 1 hurt in Quezon gunfight

CANDELARIA, Quezon – Two men were killed while a woman was wounded in a gunfight inside a house in Purok 6, Barangay Masin, this town, Friday, June 17.

Police said Roel Macasaet, 52, and Dennis Patulot, 36, died on the spot from bullet wounds.

One Lucia Macasaet, 52, who was hit by a stray bullet during the shooting, was taken to the a hospital where she is undergoing treatment.

Police said Patulot, together with an unidentified cohort, arrived at the house of Macasaet at about 10:30 p.m. and confronted him.

A heated argument erupted. Patulot and his companion drew their firearms and shot Macasaet who was able to pull out his gun and retaliate.

After a brief exchange of fire, Macasaet and Patulot died on site while Lucia was hit by a stray bullet.

Patulot’s companion fled on foot after the shooting.

A follow-up investigation is still being conducted for possible identification and apprehension of Patulot’s cohort.
