PWD hit, killed by speeding van in Cagayan

TUGUEGARAO CITY – A 50-year-old Person with Disability (PWD) was hit and killed by a speeding van while crossing Maharlika Highway, Namabbalan Norte, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan Thursday, June 16.

The Cagayan Provincial Police Office identified the victim as Alex Labang of Namabbalan Norte.

The van driver, Jomar delos Santos, 22, single, of Minante 2, Cauayan City, Isabela, tried to avoid the victim but the vehicle still hit Labang who died on the spot due to severe injuries.

The van with license plates RKR-834 registered under the name of Josephine T. Chan was on the way to Isabela when the incident happened.

Delos Santos and the vehicle were taken to the Police Community Precinct Libag for temporary custody and proper disposition, according to investigator-on-case Police Staff Sgt. Edgar Quilang Jr.
