ATIMONAN, Quezon – A P75-million housing project and evacuation site will rise through the Building Adequate Livable Affordable and Inclusive (BALAI) Filipino Community program of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) in Barangay Sokol here.
A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the project was signed by DHSUD Secretary Eduardo del Rosario, DHSUD regional director Jann Roby Otera, and Atimonan Mayor Rustico Mendoza.
Del Rosario said that the resettlement site is a planned housing project that benefits local government workers, including school teachers, and a permanent shelter for informal settlers and those living in declared danger zones.
The evacuation site has a total land area of 1,445-square meters that can accommodate up to 106 families.
Del Rosario said the project was approved by President Duterte and Atimonan is the first to receive BALAI assistance from the DHSUD in Quezon.
