NCRPO bares road closures in Manila for Marcos Jr's inauguration

Several road closures will be implemented in Manila for the inauguration of President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at the National Museum on June 30.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said Thursday, June 16, that final security preparations have been ironed out and laid down to ensure the success of the event.

Police Maj. Gen. Felipe Natividad, NCRPO director and commander of overall security for the event, advised the public to avoid the following road closures and take alternate routes to avoid inconvenience:

-Stretch of P. Burgos Ave. from Taft Ave. to Roxas Blvd.;

-Stretch of TM Kalaw Ave. from Taft Ave. to Roxas Blvd.;

-stretch of Ma. Orosa St. from P. Burgos Ave. to TM Kalaw Ave.;

-Stretch of Gen Luna St. from P. Burgos Ave. to Muralla St.;

-Stretch of C Victoria St. from Taft Ave. to Muralla St.; and

-Stretch of Ayala Blvd. from Gen. Solano St. to Taft Ave.

Relatively, the airspace within one kilometer radius of the National Museum will be declared as “no fly and no drone flying zone” while all the ports and waterways will be secured “to preempt entry of would-be saboteurs.”

The permit to carry firearms outside residence (PTCFOR) in Manila and Pasay City will also be suspended from 6 a.m. of June 27 to 6 a.m. of July 1.

“Only members of the PNP, AFP , and other law enforcement agencies who are performing official duties in prescribed uniforms will be authorized to carry firearms,” Natividad said.

A “no backpack” policy will also be implemented to “help security forces monitor more easily potential terror threats” during the occasion.

Natividad said the NCRPO has prepared a contingency plan to instantly address unexpected recurring problems on the day of Marcos Jr.’s inauguration.

“We have not monitored any threat ahead as of this moment but we are continuously and closely monitoring and coordinating with our counterparts,” Natividad said.
