Marcos, Bangladesh envoy tackle cooperation on pharmaceutical sector
The pharmaceutical sector is one area where Bangladesh is raring to assist the Philippines.

This can be gleaned from the statement of Ambassador of Bangladesh, F.M. Borhan Uddin on Friday, June 17, just minutes after carrying out a courtesy call to President-elect Bongbong Marcos at the BBM headquarters in Mandaluyong City.
"We have a very booming pharmaceutical sector in Bangladesh. You will be happy to know that we export our pharmaceuticals to more than 140 countries around the globe, including USA (United States of America) and European Union (EU) countries," Uddin told local reporters after the meeting.
"So we are hoping to enhance our cooperation in this sector also and maybe there will be some investment from Bangladesh in the Philippines, in this sector," he said.
Marcos had earlier said that he wants to boost the local production of generic medicines, saying it's an area where the Philippines could excel in.
"Yes, yes we are working on it and hopefully we will do it," Uddin said in response to the incoming Philippine leader's vision.
Based on a 2019 report from health insurer Mercer Marsh Benefits, drug prices in the Philippines are the second-most expensive in Southeast Asia.
