'Blonde' teaser presents Ana de Armas as she becomes Marilyn Monroe

‘She’s coming. She’s almost here.’

A true icon. Marilyn Monroe, even after her unfortunate death, continues to dazzle the audience with her legacy that she has become the subject of many films. The latest to do a biopic about the actress’ life is streaming giant Netflix with its forthcoming “Blonde.”

On June 16, the streaming entertainment service released the first “Blonde” teasers, which feature “Knives Out” star Ana de Armas as Marilyn with a haunting version of “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” playing in the background. “Blonde” is the movie adaptation of Joyce Carol Oates’ book of the same name and is led by director Andrew Dominik.

“ boldly reimagines the life of one of Hollywood’s most enduring icons, Marilyn Monroe,” the official synopsis says. “From her volatile childhood as Norma Jeane, through her rise to stardom and romantic entanglements, ‘Blonde’ blurs the lines of fact and fiction to explore the widening split between her public and private selves.”

Ana looked very much like Marilyn in the trailer. According to Netflix Queue, recreating the late Hollywood icon’s facade took almost three hours in the hair and makeup.

“Andrew’s ambitions were very clear from the start—to present a version of Marilyn Monroe’s life through her lens,” Ana told Netflix's Queue. “He wanted the world to experience what it actually felt like to not only be Marilyn, but also Norma Jeane. I found that to be the most daring, unapologetic, and feminist take on her story that I had ever seen.”

Apart from Ana, “Blonde” will also feature Adrien Brody as Arthur Miller, Bobby Cannavale as Joe DiMaggio, Julianne Nicholson as Gladys Pearl Baker, and Caspar Phillipson as John F. Kennedy, among others. The film got an NC-17 rating for its graphic sexual content and is set to premiere on the platform on Sept. 23.
