The epartment of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has nor received any information regarding the claims of former senator Juan Ponce Enrile on the alleged plot to harm President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr.
In a press briefing, DILG Sec. Ediuardo Año said the DILG has yet to confirm the information but vowed to verify it.
Enrile did not provide specific details but Año asserted that it is safer to assume that the CPP-NPA have plans to that effect.
But if in case, Año said the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflicts (NTF-ELCAC) are ready to provide security to Marcos.
The DILG chief also noted that the security plans for the inauguration of the incoming leaders of the country have been set-up.
“Sa ngayon (At present), we are not privy to a specific intelligence report, but we can surmise the CPP-NPA and its cohorts are actually, have the intent to cause embarrassment to president-elect Bongbong Marcos,’’ Año said.
“Kasi itong mga maka-kaliwang grupo na to, right from the start, kahit sinong umupong presidente, palaging ganoon ang kanilang ginagawa (Because this leftist groups right from the start always to that whoever site as the President),’’ he noted. (Chito A. Chavez)
