Murder of high school teacher, fiancé in Calbayog City condemned
TACLOBAN CITY – Local officials in Samar are outraged by the brutal murder of a high school teacher and her fiancé this week.
Samar Rep.-elect Stephen James Tan vehemently condemned the killing of Jade Bestudio and Roan Jeallen Lamparas last Monday by still unidentified men in Calbayog City.
"I share the pain and agony of the Bestudio and Lamparas family affected by this atrocious act," Tan said.
Tan urged the Philippine National Police and National Bureau of Investigation to conduct a rigorous forensic examination and pursue parallel investigation for the immediate capture of those responsible.
Calbayog Mayor-elect Raymund Uy and Councilor-elect Jessie Gianan have offered a reward to those who could give information on the identity of the suspects.
Calbayog Vice Mayor-elect Rex Daguman called the act barbaric and inhumane.
"I hope for the successful investigation of this case that would lead to the immediate arrest behind this cruel act," he said.
Bestudio was found lifeless beside a drainage in Barangay San Policarpo Tuesday morning while Lamparas was discovered on a grassy portion of the diversion road in Barangay Bagacay later that day.
Lamparas was believed to have been raped before she was killed since she was found naked and full of bruises and her skull was crushed.
She was last seen when she was fetched by her fiancé from a drugstore in Barangay Capoocan at about 8 p.m. last June 13.
