A generally fair and warm weather will prevail across the country due to the ridge of high pressure area and easterlies, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration on Thursday, June 16.
PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda, in a public weather forecast, said that the easterlies continue to affect the eastern parts of Visayas and Mindanao, while the ridge of high pressure area prevails in northern and central Luzon.
“Ngayong araw ay ine-expect pa rin natin ‘yung mainit na panahon sa bandang tanghali at mas mataas na tiyansa ng pag-ulan, pagkulog, at pagkidlat sa dakong hapon at gabi sa buong bahagi ng bansa (Today, we are still expecting warm weather around noon and a higher chance of rain showers, thunderstorms, as well as lightning in the afternoon and evening throughout the country),” said Casteñeda.
With this forecast, the state weather bureau warned residents of Metro Manila and the rest of the country to brace for possible flash floods or landslides during severe rain showers that the localized thunderstorms may bring.
Meanwhile, no low pressure area (LPA) or any weather disturbance is expected to affect nor develop in the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) within the forecast period, Castañeda added.
