Navotas LGU cited by DOH for successful vax program for kids

The Navotas City government received Wednesday, June 15, a certificate of recognition from the Department of Health (DOH) for the successful run of the “Chikiting Bukanation Days” campaign in the city held from May 30 to June 30.

The program aims to inoculate children below two years old against vaccine-preventable diseases.

Incumbent Mayor Toby Tiangco received the award from Dr. Gloria Balboa, DOH-National Capital Region (NCR) regional director.

The campaign was launched by the DOH to inoculate the children aged 0 to 23 months old, who missed or are yet to receive any routine vaccine for diseases like polio, pneumonia, measles, and others.

The City Health Department has inoculated 929 children, which is 115.12 percent of its 807 target, through different strategies including “door-to-door” vaccinations.

The local government said that parents who still want to get their kids vaccinated against different diseases can still visit the nearest health centers for immunization.
