Iligan City police station chief shot dead

ILIGAN CITY -- The chief of the Iligan City Police Station 4 was gunned down in Purok Violeta, Orellana, Barangay Tubod here, Tuesday, June 14.

Iligan City Police Office (ICPO) spokesperson Police Major Zandrex Panolong said the victim, Police Senior Master Sergeant Ruel C. Vacal, sustained three bullet wounds that caused his instantaneous death.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim was travelling in the area at around 2:20 p.m. when two unidentified gunmen aboard a black orange XRM Honda motorcycle with unknown license plates appeared and shot him three times in the abdomen.

The suspects fled towards Novile while Vacal was taken to the Mercy Hospital, Bacayo, here was but declared dead on arrival by attending physician Dr. Darryl Limsiaco.

Panolong said work is among the motives they are looking at in the killing.

Investigation to determine the gunmen are ongoing.
