China made short work of Belgium, 25-19, 25-22, 25-14, Wednesday night in Week 2 of the Volleyball Nations League Women’s Leg at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Chinese banked on their rock-solid net defense to outplay the Belgians and hike their win-loss tally to 4-1 for 13 points.
Gong Xiangyu led China with 19 points on 16 kills and three blocks, while Li Yingying and Wang Yuangyuang chipped in nine and eight points including combined 14 attacks and two blocks.
China also capitalized on Belgium’s errors, converting it to 18 points while almost unleashing 45 kills.
Celine Van Gestel and Pauline Martin fired 11 points apiece for Belgium, which fell to a 1-4 win-loss record for two points.
