LAGUNA – Authorities arrested a prisoner who escaped from Laguna Provincial Jail on Sunday, June 12.
According to Laguna Police Provincial Office (PPO), Eddie Bataller Bongon broke out of the prison and correctional facility on May 20 by climbing a tree and jumping to the other side of the fence.

Bongon was initially detained in Sta. Maria Laguna in July 2020 for drug charges and was transferred to the provincial jail in August 2020. He is also facing attempted homicide and robbery charges.
Laguna Provincial Jail authorities got a tip that Bongon was in Pila, prompting them to conduct a hot pursuit operation.
During his arrest, however, Bongon fled on a motorcycle and was shot by Prison Guard Renato Molina.
Laguna Provincial Jail coordinated with Laguna PPO to conduct a dragnet operation, resulting in Bongon's arrest in Calauan.
Bongon was taken to a hospital in Bay to receive medical treatment for his gunshot wound before his turnover to the provincial jail.
