DOH reminds vax sites to follow Covid-19 second booster shot guidelines

The Department of Health (DOH) reminded the different vaccination sites to only give the second Covid-19 vaccine booster shot to eligible individuals.
“As of the moment, only frontline healthcare workers (A1 Priority Group), senior citizens (A2 Priority Group), and immunocompromised adults are allowed to receive a second booster shot or a fourth dose,” the DOH said in a statement.
The state health agency said that vaccination sites should also focus on administering the primary doses and the first booster shot.
“The DOH is currently coordinating with all Regional Vaccination Operation Centers (RVOCs) to strictly comply and to focus efforts on administering the first booster shot (third dose) to improve coverage, before giving second boosters,” it said.
The DOH encouraged Filipinos who are eligible for Covid-19 vaccination to get vaccinated immediately.
It reminded the public that vaccines “remain to be our best long-term defense against the virus.”
“In light of this, the DOH continues to encourage everyone eligible to get their primary doses and boosters done as vaccines are proven to be safe and effective against severe and critical symptoms caused by Covid-19,” it said.
Based on DOH data, 69.7 million individuals have been fully-vaccinated as of June 9. Of this figure, 14.5 million people already received their booster shots.
