Adamson holds head high after promising season

The Adamson Lady Falcons kept their heads held high after showing a promising season with a fifth place finish in the UAAP Season 84 women's volleyball tournament.

Adamson's future remains uncertain even as head coach Lerma Giron is unsure if management will keep her position for next season.

The likes of Trisha Genesis and team captain-setter Louie Romero, despite having plenty of playing years left, were also mum regarding their future.

Still, Giron couldn't be more proud of her wards after its improvement on the standings from a dismal eighth place finish last Season 81 with a 2-12 record.

The Lady Falcons also reached fifth place in Season 80 with a 6-8 slate.

"Marami, marami kaming natutunan dito talaga. Talagang very promising pa tong team na 'to," said Giron after Adamson's 25-20, 28-26, 25-22 loss to Ateneo last June 11. "Sabi ko nga sa kanila, hopefully by next season sila pa rin 'yong kasama ko at ako pa rin 'yong kasama nila, so we don’t know.

"Kumbaga talagang pag trinabaho pala talaga nang todo, talagang aangat at aangat. Tapos sama-sama kayo, aangat at aangat ang team," added Giron, who steered the Lady Falcons to an 8-6 record before the playoff contention.

Giron, however, insisted that to be able to contend for the playoff and reach fifth was an unexpected feat for Adamson.

Call it fate or whatever seems fit but Giron, who was promoted as head coach in 2019, said maybe it is not yet time for Adamson to make it into the Final Four.

But based on this season, it's already within reach.

"Sabi ko nga sa team, quota na kami," she said. "Kumota na kami na nadala namin 'yong Adamson volleyball sa medyo gitna ng UAAP... pero alam ko siguro by next season, hopefully by God's grace, kaya pa natin i-angat doon.

"Talagang magta-trabaho kami nang todo para 'yong Final Four mahawakan na namin."
