Green transition and sustainability.

These were the key points discussed during the courtesy call of Ambassador Grete Sillasen of Denmark to President-elect Bongbong Marcos on Monday, June 13, at the BBM headquarters in Mandaluyong City.

"I’ve just had the honor of meeting the president-elect and we had very very interesting conversation," Sillasen told local reporters.

"There are so many topics to cover for an incoming government but I can say that our meeting focused to a high degree on the green transition that all countries have to go through these days and these years that are coming," she said.

The envoy then shared a connection between Denmark and Marcos's home province of Ilocos Norte.

"I’ve just been to Ilocos Norte myself and seen the windmills up there which came up at the time when the President-elect was governor and they are made partly with Danish development corpotation and the some of the windmills are also Danish brand," she said.

The Bangui Wind Farm in Ilocos Norte made a good impression on another diplomat who recently visited Marcos.

Sillasen added: "We had a focus on talking about sustainability which is partly the sustainable use of energies so we have green energies and fossil energies but also very importantly, be efficient with the energy we are using."

"The greenest, cheapest, and cleanest energy is one that we do not use and this was what the President-elect and I talked much about—how Denmark managed to double its GDP (gross domestic product) without increasing our consumption of energy, water, and without increasing our CO2 emissions," she said.
