Shane Tormes is Miss Global 2022

The Philippines’ Shane Tormes was crowned Miss Global 2022.

She is the first Filipina to win the title.

The pageant was held Saturday, June 11, at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center in Indonesia.

Honed by the Kagandahang Flores beauty camp, Shane is a pageant veteran who has competed in the Bb. Pilipinas pageant, and the 2020 Miss Philippines Earth pageant where she was crowned Miss Philippines-Fire.

Named first runner up is Malaysia’s Sandra Lim, while Australia’s Brooke Rankin was second runner-up.

Before Tormes, the Philippines’ highest placement in the pageant was that of CJ Hirro’s first runner-up finish in 2016.

Shane was appointed to represent the Philippines by the national franchise holders after they decided to forego a national search.

According to a report on ABS-CBN News, the Top 13 were asked about their interpretation of the pageant's theme "Built To Last."

Shane shared, “Before my Miss Global journey, I just lost my mom last December due to cancer. And she was the very inspiration why I took the motivation to continue my journey. Built to last, it means rebuilding my life until the very end. I believe that in every chapter, in every adversity, we have to stand up. I believe that even though my mom is not physically here anymore, she has the best seat in heaven watching over me. And I believe, whatever you've set to, pray to, cried to, is the setup for your next best season."
